Motorola has launched its next gen of Motorola devices with the launch of Moto G and Moto X 2015 versions. Motorola has been getting good sources with the mid range Moto G for now and the new version is same as its predecessors with a new design language that runs across all Moto devices for this year and a little improvement in hardware department. Now let us see what all changes have been made in the newer version of Moto G from the last year’s model.
Design and build
Last year Motorola design was not so impressive and this year’s version is also similar to that of last year. The main difference is at the back where the camera and Moto logo had been placed in a metal holder. We also have metal running through the sides in the form of frame.
The front looks almost identical to that of last year.
The display is the same 5″ inch 720p display protected by Gorilla Glass 3. There’s nothing else changed here.
Last year’s Moto G had Snapdragon 400 at 1.2 GHz working with Adreno 305 GPU. The RAM was 1 GB with 8GB/16GB option, which was expandable via sd card upto 32GB.
This year Motorola has released two variants with a 2 GB RAM version that comes with 16GB in storage and another a 1 GB RAM variant with 8 GB on board. Both have sd card slot upto 32 GB. The processor is the 64-bit snapdragon 410 with clock speed of 1.4 Ghz.
Camera and battery
Moto G of 2014 had an 8 MP camera on the back with 2MP on the front. Those have been upgraded with a 13MP camera on the back and a 5 MP selfie shooter on the front in the 3rd Gen. Both versions have dual LED flash.
Motorola has been using stock vanilla Android versions on their devices with some exclusive Moto features. The Moto g 2015 will come with android lollipop 5.1.1 or of the box. The new Moto G has acquired certain features from the Moto X such as Moto Display and Double-Twist for Camera. Another useful addition is the Chop for Torch feature.
Battery and other features
The battery has also seen a major upgrade with the new phone featuring a 2470 mAh battery from the 2070 maH on the 2nd Gen. The new exciting feature in the newer version is the IPx7 certification that means the phone is waterproof, which means that the phone can be submerged in a 1m of water for upto 30 minutes.
