|Samsung Galaxy Note 5 vs Galaxy Note 4|
Samsung’s phablet version of flagship, the Note lineup has a new successor as expected. Last year’s Note 4 did a decent job and had some of best specs out there, ousting the flagship S5. But this time the Note 5 hasn’t been upto the task as expected but still has some pretty new features up is sleeves. Let’s make a comparison to find out what has changed in a year for the Note.
Build and Display
Thus year Samsung made a major changes to their their phones which was much needed for their in crisis phones. The new aluminum and glass combination has done an awesome job and has been one of the best out there. The Note 5 takes same design language on a larger paper. The back has glass with a curved edges that makes it easy to handle. The phone is slimmer and lighter too than previous note 4. Note 4 had that same plastic, leather and aluminum body. That design was not much talked about though this year’s Note has taken a good lesson from it. The front has typical Samsung look with same home button that houses the fingerprint scanner in it. The back has an upgrade from faux leather to glass one which makes it more attractive.
The display is the same Super AMOLED 5.7 inch Quad HD display with deeper blacks and contrast ratio. The colors are more natural and has high brightness. The viewing angles are great on both devices. Samsung says that the note 5 display has better power saving which is certain with newer phones. There’s nothing much that differs here in these two.
Samsung has this time decided to go with their home grown exynos processor and there’s no snapdragon version this time. The exynos 7420 powering the S6 is also seen in note 5, which is currently the best and fastest performing cpu out the. The 64-bit octa core with big little architecture of Cortex a53 and a57 cores has done a great job.
The camera on the back is 16MP with OIS, but the Note 5 has wider aperture and better performance too. As with any new phones the camera has been improved and is better than the last note. The low light performance is much better and the camera is best on the market. Both notes are great performers but the new note 5 has some tricks that makes it a better shooter.
Touchwiz has been trimmed a lot as per users need and more optimizations were added to reduce the lag that generally all Samsung phones face. Even the flagships have this lag due to heavy system theming in touchwiz. Samsung is removing all inbuilt apps to reduce the lag and improve performance. Both note will have similar software and older note will also get features through updates. So there’s nothing much to differentiate here.
The battery capacity is a little lower in note 5 but with new chip and added optimizations should do better. Note 4 had a great battery so we expect a better result this time also. Both notes support wireless and fast charging.
S pen is the highlight of Note series and this time it’s even better with a pop to get the stick out. In note 4 u need to pull the s pen out but this time it’s just a click and the Pen will pop our itself.
Pricing is similar around $800 which may be reduced as day passes.
